Easy Seed-starting Spray

Seed-starting spray for both new and old seeds that you can make at home for pennies in about 5 minutes!!

If you are like me, you buy seeds every year and then somehow you miss the chance to start them. Then, they hang-out in a drawer for a year or two. Unfortunately, every year the viability of your seeds goes down 20%. That might be OK for any old seeds you bought last year—you just plant a few more of them. But what if they are important family heirlooms? Ten years after my grandma passed away my mom found seeds she had saved in a broken tea cup . My mom started these seeds. She was excited to sprout one, but I wish I had known this recipe for seeds starting spray. It is surprising how well this works!

Seed-Starting Spray:
1 1/4 cups water
1 tablespoon hydrogen peroxide
1/4 teaspoon sugar

Mix well, then fill a sprayer. When you use my seed-starting cups (see previous post) you simply spray over the seeds once you’ve planted them. Give em a good soak.

If you have left over spray, cover the sprayer with tin foil — hydrogen peroxide breaks down in light.
